On to the next port, I will confess, there isn’t much for me to post on what we did except on the Grand Bazaar which we spent most of our time at. The reason, almost all passengers on the ship were going to Ephesus and there was just no way we wanted to deal with that many people but let me tell you, we still had a great time!!!
The great thing about this port is, it is definitely walking distance to the main area. You can walk around and it’s really a fun, interesting and exciting place to walk around. Once there, we took full advantage of the time we had and went shopping for the treasures famous at this port. We also looked for a good restaurant and decided on a place that had some really nice vegetarian options.
The most famous souvenirs one can search for is the “camel bone” pieces they sell. Since my mate is awesome at haggling prices – he did a great job on a few purchases. But, outside all of this, I must tell you, the sunsets as we left port were simply AMAZING. There is also tons of beautiful jewelry stores there so “window shopping” is pretty neat in this area too.
Lots op people throughout the bazaar will be wanting you to buy from them, so be sure to bare patience with them and also folks, this is a muslim country so PLEASE be respectful of what you are wearing. In closing my thoughts on this port, be sure to grab a seat somewhere on the ship and just ENJOY!!!!
P.S. I plan on returning to Turkey one day and really seeing it. This is a fun port but one that we simply relaxed at!
